Re-launch and the prospect of new adventures.

And so to my happy place at the happiest time when the keel kisses the saltwater, the yard bills end and the adventure begins all over again. After all these years and so many launchings I’m still like a kid in a toy store when the time comes to go back to sea and I still can’t quite believe this beautiful boat is mine, that I am the captain and that beside my is my first mate, best friend and fellow adventurer.

But oh my how we both miss our friends Oscar Abel Quintana and Nineth at Tijax. Last year we came back to our boat sparkling clean, beds made, aircon running with milk in the fridge and fresh bread and we had forgotten that that doesn’t happen in Europe. So 4 days of removing 3 months of yard grime and recommissioning we are finally ready for sea.

But here’s the thing. It’s the first week in March in Northern Europe, I’m in shorts and tee shirt, there isn’t a cloud in the sky and daytime temps are around 16 degrees, ( mid 60s for those of a colonial disposition) warmer in the sun and the only thing wider than the horizon is my fixed stupid grin.

To all those who still believe the best days of boat ownership is the day you buy it and the day you sell it you have my deepest sympathy, this is the life I never dared to dream of.
