Oh my but the French can do markets.
Port Louis at the entrance to the Rade de Lorient is a special find. It’s a short hop on a ferry to the city but it’s a small walled town with everything you might expect or hope for. Today (Saturday) started with a trip to the market, petit dejeuner at the really superb patisserie followed by restocking the fresh food supplies from the market stalls, amazing boucherie and poissonerie.
Then jump on the harbour ferry and off to the festival Interceltique for a culture fix before getting back for a dinner of seared tuna with sesame at the restaurant at end of the pontoon we are moored to.
There’s also a night market on Tuesday to restock before we turn back for a slow 3 week trip north on Wednesday. Before that though the grand festival parade tomorrow.
